Welcome!

 

Hi there! I am Chris Scherting. Or chrisscherting (most people say it like it’s one long name). I am here to help you get hired quickly. Maybe even find your dream job. 

 

Since 2009 I have been helping people with the job search process, writing resumes and cover letters, preparing for interviews, and more. I am blown away at the lack of support students get from their high school or college career centers.  

 

How can one college counselor in a high school support 500 seniors all looking for jobs or trying to get into college?

You spend thousands of dollars on an education, digging a hole of student debt and you are left hanging. How can a college career center with five employees possibly support a campus of thousands of students all looking for a job? Also, why is it not cool to go to the career center?

 

Who are you?

 

• If you are in high school just trying to get your first job, I can help. 

• If you are the first person in your family to go to college, this blog is for you. 

• If you are a first generation immigrant and your parents work two jobs to pay the bills, I am here for you. 

• If the thought of going to school for four more years makes you nauseous and you just want to get started with your career right out of high school, I am here for you too!

• And if you are a tad bit older and looking for your third or fourth job…my tips will help you too!

 

I am here to help.  

 

Beware! My tips may feel a bit nerdy!  But I am telling you this advice works. I have helped my friends switch jobs and get big raises.  I have helped kids right out of college get hired quickly.  

 

My articles will give you specific tasks and tips. You may have just graduated but I will be assigning homework. Like I said, my tips may feel nerdy but if you follow the assignments you will be much more prepared and have a lot more confidence for your job search.

 

I have been working in marketing for over 30 years.  Your job search is basically marketing yourself. You have to believe in yourself. Believe that you are the best person for the job. 

 

Hopefully my posts will help to build self-confidence so you see that you are a rock star and any company would be lucky to have you!

Chris Scherting has spent the past 30+ years marketing various products and services. She has won a variety of awards for her marketing campaigns including MarCom Awards, Stevie Awards, Direct Marketing Association Arrow Awards, a Watson Wyatt Case Study, and more. She earned a BSBA in Marketing and her MBA from St. Louis University, way back in the 1980s!
